The Watergate Liquidates

Everything must go. The Watergate Hotel is selling everything to prepare for renovations. Monica Lewinsky slept here. Ten bucks to get in and see rooms 214 and 314, where Nixon's goons slept before they burgled a nearby office. While you're there you can pick up some cheap flatware or an ugly desk.

The lines are long and it's cash only, please. Anything with the initials of the hotel is already gone. In fact, not one of the 20,000 items for sale in the place is even from 1972. People will be standing in line for hours, seven days a week, until it's all gone. Meat slicers, mirrors, televisions, jacuzzis, beds, books, vacuum cleaners...

President Regan celebrated his 70th birthday in the hotel. Among other celebrity visitors were John Wayne, Stevie Wonder, Senator Bob Dole and Andy Warhol. The sale ends on October 20th.
