Man Stuck in Chimney for 12 Hours After Oktoberfest

A party-going German who had been drinking at the Munich Oktoberfest had some problems getting home. Apparently a friend of his was not home so he climbed onto the roof to try and get in the house. It was 2am and he ended up falling 98 feet head-first into a chimney.  read more »

Still Taxation Without Representation

The DC Voting Rights Bill was killed in the Senate today, allowing residents to keep their snappish license plates indefinitely. The bill passed the House in April, and would have given the 600,000 people who live in the District a vote in Congress. Critics have decried the bill as unconstitutional, since the District is not a state, and the White House threatened to veto the measure.  read more »

DA Ousted Over Duke Case

Durham County District Attorney Michael Nifong was hoping that a minor thing like disbarment wouldn't prevent him from keeping his job for another month. Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson has come up with a better idea. Citing "willful misconduct in office and conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice," Judge Hudson is moving to suspend Nifong, albeit with pay.  read more »
